Our Church School

We want staff, pupils and our community to flourish. We have worked tirelessly with love to make our school environment vibrant, engaging and cared for to ensure that all flourish here. We wanted our school to have its own identity: an identity that reflects its vision and Christian values. We want our school to be the heart of the community and to bring people together. The school is now a place that the community can be proud of and know and understad that each member of the community, made in the image of God, is valued and valuable.

New Holland C of E and Methodist Primary School: Our School Vision Explored

Our welcoming church school is located in a community that values its past and looks forward with hope. We recognise the worth of each member of our school family and we challenge and support everyone to flourish academically and personally. We journey together to do all the good we can.

‘Looking forward with hope. Flourishing. Doing all the good we can.’

Our Vision is rooted in Biblical Theology and is both Anglican and Methodist. We have explained this below using colour coded references that link to our school Christian vision above.

We are all made in the image of God and therefore we are all valued and valuable – Anglican/Methodist (Genesis 1.26-27)

Our school and community has grown and developed over time. We value our past and look forward with hope.

We do not need to live in or accept the world as but have hope and faith in the power of transformation; we have the power through our faith to live in the world, not as it is but as God intended it to be - Anglican/Methodist, (Romans 12.2), Methodist (Transforming Lives 4.3)

We believe in the transformative power of faith/imagination. Faith and the power of imagining a ‘transformed’ world provides us with the foundations of hope – Anglican/Methodist, (Romans 12.2), Methodist (Transforming Lives 4.3)

We can be agents of positive change and drive change to create the world that we want it to be: the world that God intended it to be. ‘Doing all the good you can’ (Wesley) – Methodist – John Wesley

Our Vision Through Art

We have created and incorporated the artwork above into our Chistian vision. This enables us to visually remember and understand our Christian vision that underpins all that we do.

Our pupils believe that this image represents our vision for the following reasons:

  • The dove represents hope (as in the story of Noah's ark). The dove also has green in its beak to represent growth/flourishing
  • Love is at the roots of the tree - love is at the heart of our Christian values and helps us to live out our school vision and all of our other Christian values. We are all loved by God and joined as a community in love
  • The tree itself is growing/flourishing just like we all are - we are the roots and leaves of the tree
  • The tree contains the Methodist cross to show that we are Methodist as well as Anglican
  • The hands joined represent us as a community/school community and we all work together to live out our Christian vision and values supported by God and holy scripture
  • Bright grass and sky represents hope for a brighter future. When we look at the whole image we feel bright and cheerful. We have hope just looking at this image
  • Doing all the good we can links to Methodism and John Wesley - we can do all the good we can for others and for ourselves and through doing so transform that world that we live in and the lives that we have. We do not need to accept life as it is but imagine it as God wanted it to be
  • We have put all of effort into making the school look loved and cared for because the children deserve this and the community deserves this. We want the school to be a place in which children, staff and families can flourish. We are all 'made in the image of God' and as such are valued and valuable. We can all make a difference and do all of the good we can to change the world for others and ourselves.

Our Core Christian Values

The core Christian values which underpin our Christian vision are compassion, hope, honesty, love, perseverance and respect. These Christian values enable us to work together as a community to look forward with hope, flourish and do all of the good we can.

We have created visual representations of our core Christian values to help us to remember and understand them. Each one contains a biblical quote to enable us to make connections between scripture and our daily lives.

Our Sensory Corridor: Incorporating Our Christian Values

Our Church School

We value our past and are proud of our heritage

Inspiration from past pupils. We all look to the future with hope.

All of these people started out on their journey at New Holland C of E and Methodist Primary School. With faith, hope and the love of God we can achieve anything that we set our minds to; we can go anywhere. Where will you go?

We are all made ‘in the image of God’ and are therefore valued and valuable (Genesis 1.26-27). We recognise the worth of each member of our school and community family. We all belong to God’s family.

We want our pupils, staff and families to believe in the power of transformation and that with the hope and love of God, anything is possible.
